An Overview of Texas Historic County Courthouses Restoration

Course Description

This lecture will provide an introductory background of the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program as administered by the Texas Historical Commission. We will talk about the history of the program, the requirements of the state grants funding, the impact on the Texas economy, especially the tourism interest in these historic structures, as well some of the history of selected courthouses and their architects. We will also review a number of the courthouses projects that Gordon was involved with in the capacity of Project Manager for a Fort Worth architectural firm which specializes in historic preservation and restoration.
