The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States contains several of the most important rights in our original Bill of Rights (1791). Among these are the freedom of opinion and expression, and the protection of the Free Exercise of Religion. During this 4-week course we will consider several of the most important (and sometimes controversial) decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States on freedom of expression and religion.
