Art Academy - Grades 9-12 (High School)

Course Description

Art Academy is a summer art program designed for any high school student (those entering grade 9 to grade 12) who wants to build a portfolio, or simply make art for Art's sake. Come experience it in a college studio setting. The Academy meets for one week from 9:00 to 2:00 and ends with an evening art show. Students participating will choose from 2-dimesional design studio, 3-dimensional design studio, or drawing studio. They will spend five hours in that studio and create at least two or three major pieces of artwork that can be used for any type of portfolio. 2-Dimensional Design: Students will create artwork based on the Elements and Principals of Design. Artwork will be made using a variety of printmaking methods. 3-Dimensional Design: This class will center around making sculptural pieces that are based on the Elements and Principals of design. Media and methods will vary. Drawing: Drawing class will work on developing and furthering skill based artwork as well as giving participants a creative path in which to create work. Media and methods will vary.

Registration deadline: 2 weeks prior to the start of camp. Additional registrations will be accepted on a space available basis and additional $10 late fee. If you must cancel your registration please do so 2 weeks in advance for a full refund; if less than 2 weeks, no refund.
