French for Readers

Course Description

From “avant-garde” to “voilà,” French words and expressions show up regularly in the English language, especially in literature. We'll cover basic French grammar with an emphasis on vocabulary, paying special attention to words and phrases often used in English. The course is designed for beginners and those who want to improve on basic French language skills, especially reading. In addition to the course textbook, we'll explore various websites and blog posts about French. Short excerpts from French literature will be provided. No class 3/14.
