Pro-Drone: Build and Program a Drone: Grades 6 - 12

Course Description

Don’t just fly, learn to program to fly. Using an Arduino-based programmable drone, create automated flight plans and interactive routines. Challenges include autonomous landing in target zones, follow the leader and dogfight!

Objectives
Students use the open source, quad-copter development platform to learn how to program. Daily flight challenges teach problem solving, collaboration and real coding. Topics include aeronautics, programming, logical statements, loops, if-then-else programmatic syntax, variables, geometry, coordinates, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration.

Take-home includes a programmable drone kit used in the workshop.

Extended Day Coverage (Mornings & Afternoons)
Families needing to drop off kids early or pick them up late may take advantage of TCU's Extended Coverage options. These optional coverages may be added during workshop registration and checkout. Fees are based on a weekly basis (see fees below); extended coverage for individaul days are not available for purchase.

  • Morning Extended Day Coverage (7:30am - 9:00am): +$35/week
  • Afternoon Extended Day Coverage (4:00pm - 5:30pm): +$35/week

    Lunch Policy & Coverage
    Campers registered for both a morning and an afternoon workshop during the same week, or an all day workshop will be monitored for lunch at no additional cost. Students staying all day must provide their own, non-perishable lunch and beverage (refrigeration not available). Please note that no lunches will be provided by TCU or staff.

    Ya'll Come Back! Rebate Program
    Simply register your child in more than one eligible camp workshop this summer and receive a rebate after the camp season ends. $10 rebates apply to each additional camp for each child; so, register your child for three eligible camps and receive $20 back! It's our way of saying thanks! Rebates will be processed in Fall 2018.
