Pro-Drone: Build and Program a Drone: Grades 6 - 12

Course Description

Don’t just fly, build your own drone from scratch and learn to program it to fly! Each student will assemble their own drone from a kit while learning about the different modules and functions required to create the quadcopter. Using this Arduino-based programmable drone, students will create automated flight plans and interactive routines starting from hover to full-on aerobatics. Challenges include autonomous landing in target zones and rolling flips. Not only is the quadcopter programmable, but so is the remote control!

Objectives
Students use the open source, quadcopter development platform to learn how to program. Flight challenges teach problem solving, collaboration and real coding. Topics include aeronautics, programming, logical statements, loops, if-then-else programmatic syntax, variables, geometry, coordinates, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration.

Take-home includes a programmable drone kit used in the workshop.
