Movie Makers: Grades 3 - 5

Course Description

Create movie magic by combining stop-action shots and your imagination to bring your movie story ideas to the big screen. Pinnacle Studio from Avid will allow you to edit splice, and transition your films like the pros. Learn how to create distinctive lighting, camera angles, and special effects and more! On the Friday of each workshop your parents will be invited to the film festival where your movies will be featured. This workshop may be taken multiple times – each time you will further and further!

Investigate movie making through stop-action film production in this first of a two-part workshop series. Movie Makers introduces concepts such as story-boarding, task outlining and large scale production. Different types of visual special effects are explored to understand optics, lighting and perception. Students create at least one full movie with sound and video to take home.

A flash-drive may be required to take projects home.

Extended Day Coverage (Mornings & Afternoons)
Families needing to drop off kids early or pick them up late may take advantage of TCU's Extended Coverage options. These optional coverages may be added during camp registration and checkout. Fees are based on a weekly basis (see fees below); extended coverage for individual days are not available.

  • Morning Extended Day Coverage (7:30am - 9:00am): +$35/week
  • Afternoon Extended Day Coverage (4:00pm - 5:30pm): +$35/week

    Lunch Coverage
    Campers registered for both a morning and an afternoon camp during the same week, or an all day camp will be supervised for lunch at no additional cost. Campers staying all day must provide their own, non-perishable lunch and beverage (refrigeration not available). Please note that no lunches will be provided by TCU or staff.

    Detailed information including specific camp classroom location will be sent several weeks in advance of the camp
