Comanche Barrier (Part II) The Mexicans, Texans and Comanches 1840 - 1911

Course Description

This lecture continues the story of the Part 1 historical relations between the Mexicans (after 1823) and the Texan with the Comanche Indians from the Battle of Plumb Creek in August 1840 to the death of Quanah Parker in 1911. The presentation continues to develop the conflicts in culture and economics of the competing societies and explores how the Comanche barrier to settlement of the uplands of New Mexico and Texas was finally overcome.
