The box office success, critical accolades and award nominations heaped on the recent Queen bio pic Bohemian Rhapsody mark a new zenith for the rock film. So does that outstanding movie represent the culmination of decades of evolution in the rock film genre, or is it just a dazzling outrider that stands proudly alone? Join us as we look at the history of the rock film in order to answer that question and identify some of the great films that has shaped this amped-up and eclectic genre over the years, from The Girl Can't Help It to This is Spinal Tap.
