Course Description

This lecture introduces a theoretical concept known as social identity transitioning (SIT). SIT is the process of transitioning from a privileged to a marginalized social identity in the context of close relationships. The presenter will share examples of this process occurring within the context of parent-LGBTQ adult child relationships. Attendees will be introduced to current theory, research, and practical applications of how the SIT theoretical concept can inform interprofessional practice and enhance interpersonal relationships between family members and close relational partners.
